4 Winter House Cleaning Tips

homeinside

Say hello to cold nights as the Winter season is approaching. You probably need warm blankets, hot coffee, comfort food, and definitely, it is the time to stay at home. At this point, you probably need to turn your home into a nurturing environment.

It is always important to keep our house clean all the time, but we all know that the most challenging part is to keep it spotless during the wintertime. Who would want to do the house chore during this season? I guess, no one. It is the time where you feel very work-shy as the weather wants you to just stay still and warm. It is not probably the time to worry yourself about some stuff inside and outside your house. It is very inconvenient, so better be prepared than to feel sorry.

Some of us do the cleaning every day to avoid dust and dirt, but for some that don’t have the time due to their busy schedule, I would recommend that you hire cleaning services near you to get it done.

For those who enjoy cleaning on their own. I have some tips to share.

Depending on where you live, it might be already Winter or almost Fall, so you might be thinking ahead on how to clean your house and get ready for the new season. I will be sharing some practical tips on how to clean and organize your place in order to achieve a warm and comfy home.

I know that this can be daunting but, it doesn’t have to be done in a day. You can start with a smaller task and alternate to a bigger task, later on, so you may not be overwhelmed.

Before I start, I just want to make a friendly reminder to everyone. To protect you from harsh cleaners or bleach, it would be convenient when you open the windows or if you have a ceiling fan. There are also plenty of effective cleaners that you can use in the meantime that don’t have heavy fumes.

Here are the guidelines to follow in organizing your house for Winter.

1. Dusting

Nobody wants to stay in a house full of dust. Dusting is the best way to keep it more appealing and smells nice. This is also more beneficial to those who have allergies as it will help you to breathe better.

First step is to use a washable static mop for the floors and cobwebs. Then use a damp rag for other surfaces. This will seize the dust from spreading through the air. Also, don’t forget to clean the windows before it gets snowy.

2. Putting Away/Taking Out Seasonal Items

You might want to gather up anything that’s broken and take this chance to clear out some space by throwing them out responsibly or repairing them. Or if they’re still usable, sell or donate what you don’t need or want any more. Samples are sandals, solar lights, home decor, old lawnmower, etc.

You can also check on your pantry, cupboards, medicine cabinet, and fridge for expired items.

3. Reorganizing Wardrobe/Clothes/Shoes

You need to arrange your wardrobe according to use. You can put the warmer clothes to where it is easier to access then move some to the farther side. This is also a good chance for you to spot clothing and shoes that you can donate to those in need. Be a good Samaritan, indeed!

4. Yardwork

Now that you’ve covered everything indoor, it is time for you to clean up everything outside including your yard. You have to do the lawn mowing, remove unnecessary things in the patio such as umbrellas, solar lights, etc.

This step might only be applicable for those who live in a manor house, there’s also another step for those who live in a condo or apartment, who has a balcony instead of a yard. You just make sure to sweep up dirt and clean the railings, covering your plants if necessary, or take it inside.

Conclusion

As we have discussed the easy steps on how to clean and organize your house in order to be prepared for the chilly season, always keep in mind that cleaning is really necessary for our daily lives. This will help us secure ourselves and loved ones from health issues and possible risks.

Now that you have finished your checklist and prepared your home, reward yourself for a treat as you had a job well done!
