In a time where environmental damage is such a huge topic in the news, it is important for both homeowners and businesses to find ways that they can reduce their impact on the environment. This is something that the Government are encouraging in order to meet the ‘net-zero targets for 2050’ and they have renewable incentives which can help both homeowners and businesses with renewable heating.
Closing the RHI
In late April, the government announced plans to close new applications for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for businesses from April 2021 which was a scheme that allowed people and businesses to receive quarterly cash payments over seven years if people install or have installed an eligible renewable heating technology. RHI for households has been extended to March 2022, but there will also be the introduction of a new scheme which is important to be aware of.
The New Grant
The proposed Clean Heat Grant is set to launch in 2022 and will offer funding support of up to £4,000 for every household and business that integrates new heating technologies, such as heating pumps. In addition to this, the Government is also setting out a new Green Gas Support scheme in order to increase the percentage of biomethane available on the gas grid.
Advantages of Switching
For homeowners and businesses, this means that it will be worth integrating renewable heating technologies into your home or business so that you can decarbonise and reduce your environmental impact. There will also be financial benefits from these are your monthly utility bills will be lower, plus you will benefit from funding support by making the switch.
Protection
Of course, with something like a new boiler it is always important that you have protection in place in the form of a warranty from somewhere like Warranty Wise. New technologies are impressive and you are unlikely to encounter any issues, but it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to warranties and you often benefit from an annual service to keep your boiler in top condition at all times so that you can avoid it breaking down in the middle of winter when you need it most.
New applications will close for the non-domestic RHI scheme in April 2021, but homes and businesses will be able to benefit from the new Clean Heat Grant from 2022 where you can receive funding support of up to £4,000 for integrating renewal heating technologies – this will also help you to lower your costs and reduce your environmental impact.
